JOB TITLE: CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
REPORTING TO: CEO
LOCATION: CANADA
OBJECTIVES OF THIS ROLE:
- Direct and oversee all aspects of the Finance & Accounting functions of the organization
- Develop and implement financial procedures to improve and maintain the financial health of the company
- Day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing, and controlling all finance-related activities of the company
- Provide executive management with advice on the financial implications of business activities
- Assure legal and regulatory compliance with laws and regulations
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the company’s fiscal activities of budgeting, reporting, and auditing.
- Provide leadership in the development for the continuous evaluation of short and long-term strategic financial objectives
- Ensure credibility of the Finance Department by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial trends, and forecast
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with senior executives to identify their needs and provide a full range of business solutions
- Provide recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance and business opportunities
- Oversee and coordinate with external service providers (payroll, benefits, etc.) and internal staff responsible for employee expenses
- Perform risk management through analysis of company liabilities and investments, and evaluate and manage capital structure, and fundraising initiatives
- Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting
- Assist the CEO with Board Responsibilities
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- 10+ years experience in executive financial leadership positions
- Leadership skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrity
- Understanding of advanced accounting, regulatory issues, and tax planning
- Working knowledge of raising capital beyond traditional lines of credit
